
Niklas Modig was a researcher at Stockholm School of Economics with focus on lean management. Between 2006 and 2008, Niklas Modig was the first westerner ever to be invited to Japan to follow Toyota’s organization from within. He spent thousands of hours inside the organization’s walls and was able to research material on lean service and lean retail from a unique position. Niklas Modig works as a strategic advisor and lecturer for numerous multinational companies and is a director of the association Lean Forum. In 2011, he wrote the book “What is lean?” which in the new edition in 2012 became “This is lean.” The book was written in collaboration with Professor Pär Åhlström and became Sweden’s best-selling management book in 2012.

Pär Åhlström, Professor of Business and Management at the Stockholm School of Economics. He has researched lean in over twenty years and is one of the academics who pioneered research in Sweden. Pär Åhlström is a popular lecturer and an award-winning teacher, whose publications are frequently cited.
